Dear Murfreesboro Baptist Church Family,
As you are well aware, we are in the midst of an event that is unlike anything most of us have ever experienced. As a result, on Sunday, March 15, we made the decision to cancel all activities at MBC until Sunday April 5. However, just because we are unable to be together physically does not mean that we cannot continue to be united as brothers and sisters in Christ.
During the upcoming weeks, we will continue to be broadcast over the radio on station 98.3 at 10:00 on Sunday mornings. Although these broadcasts will not be full worship services, they will include scripture readings, prayers, music, and a sermon. Additionally, I will be sending out materials to guide us through these broadcast services in order to make them more meaningful. Albeit unusual, I do hope that you will take the time to worship together in the best way that we can right now. The first of these shortened services will air on Sunday, March 29.
Furthermore, in an effort to continue in our prayers for one another, I encourage you to email me (email@example.com) or Teresa (firstname.lastname@example.org) or to call the church office (252-398-3613) to make us aware of prayer requests. We will continue to pray for these requests during our broadcast services and to send out a list of these needs each week as usual.
Also, if you are ill or hesitant to leave your home and need any help with regular tasks (groceries, mail, etc.) please do not hesitate to call. We will do our absolute best to assist you. To that end, if you would be willing to help meet these needs, please call or email the office so that we can begin to put a list of potential helpers together.
Additionally, I trust that you will continue to check on one another. Although it may no longer be prudent to be in close physical contact with each other, may we remember that viruses cannot travel through phones! If you are on the caregiver rotation, I hope that you will continue to perform that much needed ministry. If you would like to talk with me, the church office will remain open during our normal office hours (8:30-1:30). If you would like to talk in person, either in my office or in your home, please call to make arrangements.
Finally, although we will no longer be worshipping together on Sunday mornings, I hope that you will continue to be faithful in your financial support of our church. In the coming weeks, I expect that we will be presented with new and pressing opportunities to do the work of God in our community. Your support will enable us to meet those needs as they arise and to continue to meet our regular financial obligations.
Wherever the next few weeks lead us, and however long we are apart from each other, may we remember that there are plenty of things that have not changed in the slightest. God is still God. It is still good to be outside in the sunshine. Easter will still be here in just a few weeks and the resurrection will still win. We still care for one another. We are still called to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We are still, forever and always, beloved children of God.
May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
Grace & Peace
